My Body Confidence Journey: Day 10 - How I control my bingeing and emotional eating habits!
As you can see, it can actually be quite a complex habit to have.
Throughout my life, food has been a major constant. Something I could always rely on. As silly as it sounds, food has, at many points, been like my best friend. It has made me feel better, filled a hole that made me feel empty and numb, and has given me something to look forward too. Now, I’m ready to start dealing with it, rather than carry on with this vicious cycle!
In the video, I talk a little bit about my relationship with men, specifically father-like figures – which is part of my past I need to deal with. As a result of my childhood, I often push people away as soon as they start getting to close. I feel unsafe and instantly put my guard up. Low body confidence, over-eating and emotional-eating has led to weight gain, which in turn has given me an excuse to push people away (as I’ve mentioned in previous blogs).
I am now practicing EFT, followed up by using helpful thoughts (CBT) to get in control of my thinking habits, to help change my beliefs. All of this, in time, will hopefully stop me binge eating. LESSON 1: Take back control. Use EFT to deal with your emotions (if you haven’t already, please see the links below on what EFT is and how to use it!) and the HappiMe app (link below) to change those negative thoughts and feelings to more helpful and positive ones.
