My Body Confidence Journey: Day 26 - Meditation can help you feel more confident!
As I have mentioned a number of times on this journey, meditation has proved invaluable to calming my mind and helping me tune out of the thousands of thought processes I can have at any one time. So, STRATEGY 1: Meditation. Now, I am not going to give you lots of information on meditation, as some of you might not be interested in that, and would just prefer to know how to do it. For those of you who would like to understand the power of meditation a little bit more, please check out the links below for a great article called ‘This Is Your Brain on Meditation’ by Rebecca Gladding M.D.
Meditation is all about letting our thoughts come and go, without engaging with them. As well as this, it’s partly about observing our environment, body and mind, whilst feeling calm. There are many different ways to meditate – for example, you could just listen to calming music or complete a guided meditation (there are millions to choose from hundreds of categories); you could do it alone, or in a group… The possibilities are endless, really.
My favourite way to meditate is using Insight Timer, as there are many thousands of meditations to choose from. They also have a great free course called ‘Learn How to Meditate in Seven Days’, which is brilliant for beginners. Although it is called a “course”, it is just a set of short audios to listen to and follow – like guided meditations.
