Why we LOVE Tapping!EFT is an acronym for Emotional Freedom Technique, a science-backed, energy-based therapy offered all over the world. Click here for a free PDF which explains this in more detail.
EFT's process is easy - using your middle & index finger together, gently tap the meridian points on your face, collar bone & hands. When you're with a practitioner, you will be asked to focus on the problem, pain, belief or emotion you wish to change by repeating short, relating statements. For example, perhaps you want to clear the anger you feel whenever you think of your neighbour. We would focus on this through a short discussion, locate the feeling in your body, rate the intensity of the feeling and then tap on each of the meridian points (3 or 4 times), whilst repeating sentences like, "I am angry", "this anger I have", "I feel angry with my neighbour", etc. As the intensity reduces, we begin to focus on slightly more helpful statements, such as, "I am letting go of this anger", "I feel this anger leaving my body", "I feel able to forgive/accept/move forward" etc. Not only is EFT simple, it is super effective, fast & low-cost... What more could you ask for? Perhaps your child is anxious about school, your partner is stressed at work or you're upset about a recent family issue... Whatever it may be, EFT can be a really helpful tool to release those emotions. Sometimes, all it takes is 5-minutes of tapping, a glass of water and a few deep breaths for you to feel better. So, why don't you give it a try? Let us know how you get on in the comments below or by contacting us! Take care, Abby x Our suggestions: - EFT can be used as a fantastic self-therapy, but HappiMe suggests meeting with a qualified practitioner to ensure you are able to use EFT properly first. - If you are dealing with what EFT practitioners call a "Big-T" (such as a recent diagnosis, a bereavement or a major trauma etc), we always ask that you book a session with a qualified practitioner, so you are able to work through this pain safely. - Watch Jess & Nick Ortner, Gary Craig or Karl Dawson's EFT videos on YouTube to help you with your EFT practices at home.
