Have you used this mindfulness strategy before?Have you used this mindfulness strategy before?
This week, we are going to be sharing SELF-HELP TOOLS! As you may know, the HappiMe ethos is to promote positive mental health by teaching young people self-help tools so they can manage their emotions and thoughts better… One of the most powerful tools taught by our team is MINDFULNESS! The strategy we have decided to share is super simple and great for people of all ages… You may have even played a game similar to this on long car journeys with the kids (remember those trips?). We call it ‘The 5 Senses’. Simply start with your sight and find 5 things you can see that you hadn’t noticed before. Then, move onto the rest of the senses, reducing the number of things to find as you go through them. For example, smell (4 things), touch (3 things) etc. This technique is great for grounding children (and adults) when they are feeling overwhelmed. Lots of pastoral staff in schools use this technique when pupil emotions are high. Give it a try and let us know what you think. If you are a struggling parent/carer, we are currently offering free consultations. Please contact us when you feel ready. If you feel in need of support or specific advice, please get in touch. How else can HappiMe help you or your child? We offer targeted coaching programmes, which can be really useful for supporting you to develop more helpful thinking patterns. Find out more here.
