Does your child need help focussing?Does your child need help focussing?
Over the past few days, we have been offering tools that your child can use to help them manage their mental health better. Today’s strategy is not a mindfulness technique, but can be amazing nonetheless. Have you ever played the ABC Game? This is a fun one, and when used properly, it can help a child get back in control of their thoughts. Ask them to pick a topic they know lots about, something fun like movies, YouTube or cars, then ask them to go through the first few letters of the alphabet to find words that match. For example, if you chose cars, you could go “A for Aston Martin”, “B for Bus”, “C for cambelt” etc. This tool shows young people that they can control what they think! Our advice is to use this with older children and teens, as they are more likely to stop when they feel more in control of their thoughts. Remember, there is not a “one size fits all” with these tools, so it’s important to try things out to see what works for you. If you are a struggling parent/carer, we are currently offering free consultations. Please contact us when you feel ready. If you feel in need of support or specific advice, please get in touch. How else can HappiMe help you or your child? We offer targeted coaching programmes, which can be really useful for supporting you to develop more helpful thinking patterns. Find out more here.
