What is confidence?

What is confidence?

Across HappiMe social media this week, we are going to be focusing on BUILDING CONFIDENCE!

This week should be a fun one…

We suggest rating your confidence out of 10 today, then after practicing the strategies we are going to share with you between now and Friday for around 30-days, re-rate it to see if there has been an improvement.

Before we discuss our first strategy, we wanted to share a little more about what confidence is, as there are one or two misconceptions:

  1. Confidence is how you FEEL about YOURSELF intrinsically… Not what other people think of you. Just because Bob said, “she’s doesn’t seem very confident”, it doesn’t mean it’s true!
  2. Confidence has nothing to do with the external world, and everything to do with your own thoughts. If you keep saying to yourself, “I’m not very confident”, guess what? You will never be confident!
  3. Confidence doesn’t mean you’re loud, love being the centre of attention or have to be the “class clown”. Confidence is being brave enough to be quiet when appropriate, to listen, and to share assertively when you have something to say. Confidence works very closely with vulnerability!

So, set a reminder for a month’s time and add your current confidence rating! Don’t be down on yourself if the score isn’t high, it’s a strange time and hopefully you’ll have improved by mid-March.
