What is resilience?“It’s your reaction to adversity, not adversity itself, that determines how your life’s story will develop.” – Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Resilience is essentially the successful adaptation in the presence of risk or adversity (Garmezy, 1986; Luthar, 2003; Olsson, Bond, Burns, Vella-Brodrick, & Sawyer, 2003). Resilience does not mean you are immune to stressful situations rather that you can overcome and deal with them. The truth is, wherever you look, the words in the definition of resilience changes, but the message is the same. Resilience does not mean you don’t get stressed… On the contrary, resilience is built by learning and growing from stressful situations!
