Taking Care of Your Mental Health

How to take care of your mental health... Part 3!

Picture
It seems we may be nearing the end of “lockdown”, so HappiMe co-creator, Abby, thought it would be helpful to spend this week sharing her daily rich-uals & tips for thriving, not just surviving… So, here is the 3rd & final part!

3. Evening:

By now, it’s finally time to wind down! This is where the TV comes on, music plays or I socialise (on Zoom, of course). Over the past few weeks though, this has mostly been when my daily series binge begins… ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, anyone?

After making dinner; I normally read, play with Bailey or go for an evening walk. Although during lockdown, we have spent a lot of time playing in the garden, as to avoid going out. Then, I shower before my evening routine begins.

Right, I think this is the perfect opportunity to pause... Over the past few days I have shared my typical daily routine (note “typical”), but of course there are days where I ditch it all to watch 3 movies & eat nothing but snacks & curry. So, if you’re reading this thinking, “I have 3 kids, 2 dogs, a spouse to spend time with & a full-time job”, then please don’t panic. The point of this post is to help you see how I take care of my mental, physical & spiritual health; but will be different for everyone. If you wake up, get 1 thing done (even if that’s brushing your teeth) then go to sleep ready to survive the next day, then you really are doing ok. Small steps are key.

Once I'm in bed, I am ready for my final 3 rich-uals. They are…

1. Preparing my ‘to do’ list for the next day.
2. Practicing gratitude & writing in my journaling app (Daylio).
3. Meditating &/or EFT.

If you’d like to find out more about how to do any of the strategies I have mentioned this week, it is also worth noting that only I will be checking HappiMe’s instagram messages until Sunday 5th July.

Please, take care & remember that you are already doing a brilliant job.

Love,

HappiMe x
